A compliance check often returns more hits than are genuinely relevant: a name that resembles your company, an article about a different organisation, an old enforcement case already dealt with. Reviewing hits and marking the ones that don't apply keeps the result meaningful and your alerts clean.

## Opening the results for an entity

In a compliance check, each entity in the list shows a result icon for every screening module that found something — Sanctions, PEP, Adverse Media & Enforcements and Government Linked Entity. Click an icon to open the results for that entity and module.

Each hit shows what was matched, the date, a category tag, and a **Confidence** score such as Medium (50%) or High (100%). **Show Details** opens the full record behind the hit.

## Rating a hit

Use the rating dropdown in the **Actions** column to record your assessment. Five options are available:

| Rating | Use it when |
| --- | --- |
| Risk Confirmed | The hit is genuine and represents a real risk. |
| No Risk | The hit concerns the right entity but doesn't represent a risk. |
| False Positive | The hit isn't about this entity at all — for example a different company or person with a similar name. |
| To Investigate | You need to look into it further before deciding. |
| Discard | The hit isn't relevant and you want it set aside. |

Ratings are labels for your own review and reporting: they record what you decided about each result and give you an overview of where a check stands. They don't send the hit anywhere or trigger a workflow. They do affect alerts, as hits marked as false positive and discarded hits are left out of monitoring alert emails by default — see [Compliance settings](/articles/compliance-settings) if you would rather receive every new hit.

Your progress is tracked: the compliance overview shows a **Reviewed** count per check, such as 12/33.

## Adding notes to a result

Notes record why a decision was made — why a hit was marked as a false positive, what was checked, what still needs confirming. They are visible to everyone in your organisation, so a colleague reviewing the same company sees the reasoning instead of assessing it again, and they appear in the audit trail.

To add one, click the note icon in the **Actions** column of a hit. Write your note and click **Post note**. A hit can hold several notes, and the dialog shows how many it already has, so a discussion builds up in one place.

Notes support basic formatting — bold, italics, lists, quotes and links — which is useful for recording a short checklist or linking to a source you used when deciding.

To bring a colleague in, type @ followed by their name and select them from the list. They receive an email with the note, and a mention notification in Business Radar. See [Notifications](/articles/notifications).

## Reviewing several hits at once

Rather than rating hits one by one:

1. Select the hits with the checkboxes on the left.

2. Open the **Mark selected as** menu above the list — it shows how many hits you have selected — and choose the rating to apply to all of them.

The same menu also offers **Mark all not rated as False Positive**, which applies to every unrated hit in the result, ignoring whatever you have selected. That's a quick way to clear a long list once you have confirmed the hits that matter.

You can also select hits and use **Add Selection to Binder** to collect them for follow-up or sharing. See [Using Binders in Business Radar](/articles/using-binders-in-business-radar).

## Hits the AI has already excluded

Business Radar's AI assesses hits and excludes the ones it judges to be false positives, so they don't clutter the result. To see them, click the robot icon above the results — **Show AI-excluded results**. Excluded hits remain available for review, and one that you re-assess as a real match is picked up again by the next alert.

## Reducing false positives at the source

If you consistently get hits that aren't relevant, administrators can tune screening in [Compliance settings](/articles/compliance-settings):

* Raise the **name-match threshold** for Sanctions or PEP so only closer name matches are considered.

* Switch on **Disable partial name matches for persons** so incomplete names no longer produce hits.

* Switch off **sanctions lists**, **PEP tiers** or **enforcement sources** that aren't relevant to your organisation.

* Adjust the **adverse media keywords** so terms that generate noise for your sector stop flagging.

These changes apply to newly run or rescored checks, not to results already produced.
